Yesterday I put on my snow gear, rubber boots, grabbed the camera & monopod, and went for a long hike through Shawnee Mission Park. I went completely off the paths (which I’m probably not supposed to do) and it felt really good to be hiking through areas with snow that was untouched except by wildlife. I only saw two other people the entire time, and they were a mile away.

I did this last February, minus the camera. It’s so much more peaceful in the winter when there aren’t tons of people in the park. It lets you forget you’re half a mile from a subdivision.
