Development Process
2010 is going to be the year; I can feel it. There are a lot of different ideas being thrown around over here, and I am really pushing myself to crank out new work. Some of which is Photography & Illustration based, but the greatest I am looking forward too is product based. Here is a brief synopsis of things in-the-works:
Prints
Working on rolling out canvas prints to lots of other retailers beyond CB2. Already have a target list: hopefully we will begin to tackle this within the next few weeks.
New prints for my shop are being developed, including some larger silk screened 18” x 24” poster sized prints. Some existing work will be adapted into 12” x 18” prints and put in the shop, which I hope to get too very soon. The larger prints will be done more around early spring…. hopefully.
Photography
I really have thousands of photos, most of which I have never shown. I’m working on bringing some of these into selected galleries on my site. Some galleries to come: WWII Bombers, More recent winter scenes, more shots from China which haven’t seen the light of day, and some of my studio product photography work.
Illustration
Working on new stuff for CB2 right now, which is mostly graphic and illustration based. Some of which for me personally, is my favorite stuff yet. I’m also just constantly doodling, trying to piece together stuff for personal work.
Product
Right now I am in the beginning phases of designing some jewelry in collaboration with my wife. We will begin by experimenting with some laser cut wood ideas. There is one bracelet design that is already in the works, which is based off of a ring I made in college out of Silver. I’ll give a little sneak peek shortly. Ultimately, the jewelry will take a little while to develop: we are pretty serious about it so we want to make sure it is good: plus as you can read above there are more precedent things taking place.
Other product ideas for way down the road which I would like to tackle are some lighting ideas and other small home accessories to get started. All of this, while I work a 9 - 5 job. Am I crazy? Possibly, but that is how you succeed at eventually working on your own instead of for other people.
Wish us luck!
