Office & Conservatory on Valberget by Helen & Hard
An 1850 timber house in Norway converted to an advertising agency’s contemporary office. My favorite part is the conservatory outside which I would kill to have. You can click through to see more photos including the interior.
Pentagonal House by Kazuya Morita Architecture Studio
A stunning house in Japan. As much as I like to look at extreme Japanese Minimalism I know in reality I probably could not live in it. So this house has the right blend for me. And an extremely efficient layout. The central open space with the large arches is breathtaking. Take a look at more photos with the link, especially some of the details.
Glass Farm House by Olson Kundig Architects
Having grown up in a small farming community in the Midwest there is a permanent spot in my heart for mostly anything to do with farms, barns, etc. Seeing a headline that says “glass farm house” could also read “dream house”.

The Brick House by Philip Johnson
Most people are familiar with Johnson’s Glass House but not the accompanying guest house set in contrast. It is currently close for remodeling, but will reopen in 2012. Look at that ceiling! And the giant round windows; I’m now adding that on the list of things I want in my dream house one day.

Madrid Hub Office by CH + QS Architects
An old abandoned garage turned into a simple, open & awesome office for a group of social entrepreneurs. Largely untouched with added basic materials gives it a very raw and urban feel. I’m digging everything about it. And check out that unbelievable custom table! Full tour by clicking through.
San Francisco Renovation by Kennerly Architecture
Although the entire renovation is incredible and worth looking at, I’m focusing on this amazing custom hand railing for the staircase. It has so much uniqueness, warmth and a little MCM style. Made of oxidized steel, bees wax coated twine and integrated wood shelving.

Dwelling 3918 by Studio Build
Studio Build is a small (but not in talent) yet super creative design + build firm in KC. I’ve been watching them for a while and I’m always impressed with their work. Not only can these guys crank out awesome home remodels, but seriously amazing hand crafted furniture as well. They do it all, and do it well. Check out this home remodel completed back in the spring. You can see some of the before pictures here.
All of the details are done extremely well, like this staircase below. I love that Cyan blue handrail! Their sense of style is pretty spot on with mine: natural woods and neutral tones and then a serious pop of color. Well done guys!

Amazing remodel of this Mid Century home designed by Austin architect A.D. Stenger. Click through for more photos.

John Entenza House by Harwell H. Harris
Small living. 850 sq ft from 1937, but such a great little concept house. Apparently this house was the birth place for the Case Study Program.
