West Bottoms

I haven’t had much to share this week: it has been surprisingly busy, and I’m trying to unplug (at least a lot, but maybe not completely) from the internet and focus on getting some important things done over the next two weeks.

I figure I need to at least show up with some form of contribution to the blog this week, so here are a couple of photos from 2008, taken in the West Bottoms of KC.

I think I should send this one to Beck. Maybe he’ll use it as his next album cover. Riiiight. Both of these were shot with a Canonet, my favorite little Rangefinder. I can’t remember the film off the top of my head, but seeing as I’m a big Ilford fan I’m going to take a guess that it was HP5.

Have a good week/weekend!

B&W Florida

I’m finally getting around to sharing some film shots from my Florida trip back in March. Here are some miscellaneous black and white film shots, taken with my favorite little old camera: a Canonet QL17 and Ilford Delta 400 film. Above is the area just in front of our bed & breakfast on Big Pine Key.

Looking out over the water from the top of the Bahia Honda Rail Bridge.

A sail boat passing under the bridge.

More scenery from Bahia Honda.

One of my favorite things about Key West had to be the Roosters running around everywhere.

You can see any of these images in a larger view, over at my flickr page

Steel Rolls
An older photo, from a China trip several years ago. This was at a factory in Hangzhou, which is about an hour west of Shanghai. You are looking at rolls of thin steel sheet metal, which are being run through a stamping machine which turns the metal into expanded mesh.

Frasier Firs
It looks like that time of year again. We’ve prepared early this year so we have the tree ready to go when we get home from Thanksgiving. Frasier’s are the best!
