PLE Residence by Mim Design

If I had a kitchen and dining combo that looked like this, I would be sleeping on that table. In other words non of the other rooms in the house would ever be used. I am convinced that Australia has the best residential Architecture and Interior design in the world.

Skog lamps by Caroline Olsson
Caroline is a young designer from Norway that designed these lamps with inspiration drawn from the nearby forests (Skog is Norwegian for ‘Forest’) of the manufacturing site, Magnor Glassverk. The shapes are especially nice and I can easily imagine myself having a couple of these next to each other. They are currently being produced and will hopefully be for sale in early 2012.

Strip Chair by Massimo Castagna for Henge
A stunning chair reminiscent of Marcel Breuer’s 1930 classic B34. Cantilevered tubular steel frame with an interwoven laser cut leather back and padded seat. That woven area under the armrests is such a great detail.

Mid Century Denmark

This house is stunning. I can only dream of a MCM house like that someday. You can see more photos over at Design Attractor.

Notchless Tape Dispenser by Mamoru Yasukuni
A minimally designed tape dispenser with a very functional purpose. Actually several. But the major one being the new blade technology (which is patented) that keeps the tape from tearing.

Balloons by Dan Yeffet
I love the playful idea of this lighting series but done in a seriously upscale way. Not too mention it has all of the things I love: simple materials & ideas and an extra pop of color.
“Based on an idea of an invisible balloon with a floating reflector.”

Glass Farm House by Olson Kundig Architects
Having grown up in a small farming community in the Midwest there is a permanent spot in my heart for mostly anything to do with farms, barns, etc. Seeing a headline that says “glass farm house” could also read “dream house”.

Notos by Thomas Kuhl and Andreas Krob for ClassiCon
Mobile table and easel with a nice clean & simple approach. Only the basic necessities. Table surface can tilt in 5 different angles. Really great design all around.

Lewis Nerman Museum

A contemporary Art museum on the Johnson County Community College campus (what a mouthful) that is often over shadowed by the Nelson Atkins. It is really a fantastic addition. Well designed, clean and modern.

Last week I finally got around to taking some exterior shots of the building. Something I’ve been meaning to do since it opened. On the underside of the overhang (which you can see clearly in this shot) is a large array of LEDs, which continuously range in brightness creating a dramatic light show. It is really an interesting idea.

Next, I will be photographing the interior, so look forward to that soon!

(Some of the LED panels need to be replaced already. I started to edit them, but it became too tedious for me)
