The next batch of bracelets is well under way! I’m ready for final sanding and then painting. It is the largest batch I have made at once, so hopefully I won’t have to restock them for a while. There are also several bracelets in the batch that have some really amazing grain from the Zebra wood.
I hope to have them up in the shop before too long. You can always follow me on twitter and instagram to stay in the loop.

Lori Bracelet

I thought I would give a public update on the situation regarding the stock of Lori Bracelets since I have had a lot of inquiries. The soonest I am looking at having them restocked is by the end of January to early February. I am sorry for the long delay but I am trying to get at least 50 done before I put them up, so I don’t have to be constantly making them.

We are also prototyping several new pieces that we hope to have ready by early Spring. You can get sneak peeks by following me on Twitter or Instagram!

I am blown away by the sales of the bracelets. They are selling much faster than I ever anticipated them to sell which basically means I cannot keep up with my customers. Even though it sounds like a good problem to have, it is still a problem. I’m the type of person that likes to make everyone happy and I’m now realizing there are probably going to be some disappointed folks that don’t get to order one for Christmas. The good news is I’ll be making this bracelet for a while so there will be plenty of chances to buy one after the Holidays.
The best news of all is I have sold enough bracelets to have money to invest in more products for 2012, which is really all it is about for me. So thank you very much to all the folks who have bought from my shop in the last month.

Spend the extra money

“I don’t know how $4.00 shirts exist. The idea of a $4.00 shirt blows my mind…

… there are materials. There are people with actual hands make them and cut the fabric. There’s their health care. And shipping costs. And the wages of people in the actual stores working. And then rent of the building. You have to know when you’re buying a t-shirt at Wal-Mart and it’s $4.00, someone’s getting screwed. You’re not getting ripped off, someone’s getting screwed.” - Kristen Wentrcek (via)

Sometimes I think it might actually be worse to know the insider information of manufacturing things. You go to a store and start calculating backwards how much that item actually cost to make. Even worse is if you are familiar with that “big box” store and know the margins (how much they mark up their goods from the vendors they buy from) they take. It is one of the reasons why I refuse to shop at certain places, like Bed Bath & Beyond: the amount they mark up their goods would shock you….

Spoon and Thimble
My wife Lori has officially started her blog! This has been in the works for a while, and it took a lot of persuasion at first, but now she is thoroughly excited. She’ll be talking about cooking & crafts & many other things, so please follow along.

1 Year Later…..

Today is 1 year exactly from when I was fired by one of the most horrible people I’ll ever meet. You can read about it here if you haven’t: http://tinyurl.com/4c2mjr6

But here I am, basically in a complete 180 from where I was then. Back to work full time at a dream job with maybe the coolest boss I’ll ever have, and complete design and artistic freedom: which basically is near impossible to find.

So again, to re-iterate what I said before, don’t let anyone keep you from what you want to accomplish. Life can turn around in an instant.

City Towels
The shop is now open and the towels are available. I’m really excited to finally get these out there; it has been a very long process and I am very happy with how they turned out. Thanks to the guys over at Vahalla Studios for such a great job at printing these.
I have about 70 of the “Night” towel and 48 of the “Day” towel. 100% cotton with non-toxic water based inks.
Thanks for all the support from everyone! I appreciate it more than you can possibly know.
